Rolling Admission for First Time Students and Transfer Applicants
Our BAI program is in a four-year format and consists of 36 credits in the major, including coursework, fieldwork, and field internship.
Students will take supporting courses in ASL and deaf studies, biology, business, communication studies, linguistics, and psychology. In either a full or part-time program structure.

At Gallaudet, we have articulation agreements with other colleges, and some interpretation courses are transferable to the Gallaudet BAI program. We have this agreement with the following colleges:
To become a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI)
Prospective deaf and hard of hearing students must be accepted through Undergraduate Admissions to apply for the CDI/BAI program. The BAI program will prepare deaf and hard of hearing students with the skills necessary to become Certified Deaf Interpreters (CDI).
Our MAI programs utilize an interdisciplinary approach to interpretation, accompanied by a state-of-the-art interpreting laboratory and extensive fieldwork, focusing on both interactive and monologic approaches to interpreting with an increased emphasis on theory and research. Experienced full-time faculty members with national and international reputations teach and advise students in the program. The M.A. program offers two concentrations.
We offer a Ph.D. degree in Translation and Interpreting Studies designed to prepare future interpreter educators and researchers. The program emphasizes research and requires the completion of a dissertation.

Testing
The standardized testing requirements for your chosen degree program are in the Graduate School Catalog, such as the GRE and MAT. The Office for Career Education & Professional Development offers the MAT every month and the GRE every six months.
All test scores must be sent to the graduate admissions office, along with Gallaudet鈥檚 code: R5240, directly from the testing center you use. Gallaudet usually receives results within six to eight weeks. For further information concerning testing, contact the test providers listed below:

Goal Statement
Most programs require a goal statement, which should prove that your past achievements will enable you to succeed in your graduate program(s). After your completed goal statement is uploaded with the application, it will be reviewed by the faculty selection committee.
Dual Degree Graduate Application Requirements
You can apply for two graduate programs. Just submit an application for each program following their respective application instructions.
If you are already a student in one program and would like to add another program of study, you may do so. But you still need to apply for the additional program by following that program鈥檚 application requirements. You must submit a letter from the chair of your current program indicating you are in good academic standing and are approved to add another program of study.
Regardless of how you apply for additional programs, you can use the same supporting materials, such as references and test scores.
* International applications need to take the TOEFL or IELTS and have the testing center send the scores directly to Gallaudet; the ETS institutional code is 5240.
Graduate special students are U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have earned a bachelor’s degree and wish to take graduate courses without pursuing a program that leads to an advanced degree. Anyone wishing to register for a graduate class must apply and be accepted for graduate special student status.
New graduate special students are accepted year-round! Graduate special students must satisfy course prerequisites and obtain permission before completing course registration. Enrollment in certain graduate courses is limited to degree-seeking students.
Transitioning to a degree or certificate program
Admission as a visiting graduate student neither implies nor guarantees subsequent admission to any other program at 黑料老司机. Interested students should check with the graduate program coordinator/director to determine whether courses taken as a visiting graduate student will be accepted for another program and learn about limits on the credits applied to a degree program.
黑料老司机 is committed to America’s veterans and is authorized to accept veterans under the GI Bill, including those in the , a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Yellow Ribbon Program is available to veterans who have sustained “a service-connected disability.”
In addition to accepting veterans supported by the general GI Bill, Gallaudet will support up to 25 eligible veterans during an academic year for any graduate program for an amount of up to $2,175.00 (full-time graduate status) in tuition expenses, as stipulated under the Yellow Ribbon Agreement. Gallaudet is on the VA’s Approved Education Programs website as an institution participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
