Our Physical Education and Recreation programs turn students into leaders who promote physical activity, inclusivity, and recreation to improve the overall health and wellness of the community. Students will have gained invaluable experience through volunteering opportunities and professional internships.
The Personal Discovery Program builds confidence, teamwork, and lifelong friendships through Gallaudet's ropes course, rock climbing, canoeing, and other activities. Students can train and lead other students through volunteering opportunities. Students in the Advanced Discovery class gain experience training and leading new students in the program.
Physical Education and Recreation students are required to complete two internship experiences. Fieldwork opportunities are also available to work alongside recreation, after school, summer youth, athletic trainers, fitness, and strength/conditioning personnel.
