Public Health is creating a positive change in the world, in our communities, and in ourselves!
The Gallaudet Public Health Program (BSPH) is a multidisciplinary major and minor that prepares students to enter the important, in-demand field public health. The program provides three tracks for the major: public health science, health education, and health policy/administration. Students learn how to serve individuals, families, communities, and the population at large through disease prevention, healthy lifestyle practices, and epidemic and disease research.

PHAs are an essential part of campus life. As PHAs, students will work with faculty, athletic teams, and student organizations to conduct public health programming throughout the year. Through the coordination of events focusing on public health issues such as World AIDS Day, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, or Alcohol Awareness Week, students can directly influence the public health of their campus.
The Deaf Health Equity is an on-campus research lab dedicated to improving the accessibility of deaf and hard of hearing people to quality health services. Past research projects have focused on areas such as deaf caregiver health, deaf women鈥檚 health, deaf aging, deaf sexual and gender minorities, and the Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS-ASL).
Students are required to complete at least one internship in the BSPH Program. Internships are an opportunity for students to put skills and concepts from the classroom to work through real-world applications. Potential internship sites include government agencies such as the National Health Institute, Centers for Disease Control, state departments, local health departments, or local hospitals and clinics. Providing sexual and reproductive health education to deaf and hard of hearing students in local schools.

Career paths to consider when searching for internships include:
Graduates of the BSPH program are equipped to take nationally accredited certification tests such as the exam and the exam. Passing these exams sets students on the track for success in their professional public health life.
The APHA gives students and graduates alike the chance to learn in-person or online the latest in public health research. From discussing best practices to influence federal policy, the APHA surrounds members with the top public health influencers and information.
