We are better together
Welcome Home week is the perfect opportunity to get acquainted (or reacquainted) with Gallaudet. Participate in outdoor activities, open house events, social gatherings, giveaways, and a Presidential address guaranteed to get you in the Bison spirit!
Get a JumpStart on the immersive American Sign Language (ASL) and English experience you鈥檒l encounter at Gallaudet before the start of your first semester. This four-week program is packed with Deaf Culture, ASL, and alike peers to get you comfortable and confident as a new signer.
Orientation programs are designed to welcome students and families to 黑料老司机. These programs detail a variety of changes students can expect as they transition into campus life and provide an overview of campus resources to support students鈥� success.
The best way to learn about our campus is to visit it yourself. You can take a tour of our campus in person or virtually from the comfort of your own home. You鈥檒l be amazed by the blend of modern DeafSpace facilities right alongside historical buildings from the 1800s.
Thousands of prospective students, parents, professionals, school groups, American Sign Language classes, and others visit 黑料老司机 every year.
As the world’s only university designed for deaf and hard hearing students, Gallaudet attracts students and visitors from throughout the United States and worldwide.
Visiting our beautiful campus, also known as Kendall Green, is the best way to learn about our exceptional academic programs and to see how we blend history and innovation.

Deaf and hard of hearing students at 黑料老司机 have exceptional opportunities to lead, participate and network in all aspects of college life, and enjoy welcoming opportunities that are not found anywhere else.

I鈥檓 from Texas - a small town that no one has聽 heard of, and I grew up with a hearing family.聽
Now, I鈥檓 here at 黑料老司机.聽 I鈥檝e met people from all over the world,聽聽
all from different backgrounds.聽
Now, all of us are together聽 in one community of learning!聽
Sometimes you may think you know everything, but聽 no! 黑料老司机 has more to teach you.聽
The world out there is big, but聽 黑料老司机 is bigger!聽
Opportunities aren鈥檛 limited to just the classroom聽 - there鈥檚 so much more outside of the classroom.聽
I know I can鈥檛 get this experience anywhere聽 else. Only at 黑料老司机.聽
Why did I come here? For a real college experience聽 that will prepare me for life beyond college.聽
For example, I can lead in student organizations鈥β�
become a captain and play NCAA level sports鈥β�
join the debate team and college bowl team.聽
Also, there鈥檚 a big audience of聽 students, faculty, and staff鈥β�
Where you can pitch your聽 business idea at Bison Tank聽
Work with over 100 departments聽 with deaf leaders and become one鈥β�
Is that all we have? No! We have聽 a lot of students from all over,聽聽
where you can make friends and聽 connect - even at 2 in the morning!聽

Connecting with empathy聽 means that we can influence鈥β�
Fully understand and learn聽 from each other to grow.聽
Through this, we learn to problem solve,聽聽
but that only comes with the full academic聽 experience at 黑料老司机.聽

mainstreamed, deaf school - you聽 will learn your way. I know I have!
