We are better together
Welcome Home week is the perfect opportunity to get acquainted (or reacquainted) with Gallaudet. Participate in outdoor activities, open house events, social gatherings, giveaways, and a Presidential address guaranteed to get you in the Bison spirit!
Get a JumpStart on the immersive American Sign Language (ASL) and English experience you’ll encounter at Gallaudet before the start of your first semester. This four-week program is packed with Deaf Culture, ASL, and alike peers to get you comfortable and confident as a new signer.
Orientation programs are designed to welcome students and families to ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú. These programs detail a variety of changes students can expect as they transition into campus life and provide an overview of campus resources to support students’ success.
The best way to learn about our campus is to visit it yourself. You can take a tour of our campus in person or virtually from the comfort of your own home. You’ll be amazed by the blend of modern DeafSpace facilities right alongside historical buildings from the 1800s.
Thousands of prospective students, parents, professionals, school groups, American Sign Language classes, and others visit ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú every year.
As the world’s only university designed for deaf and hard hearing students, Gallaudet attracts students and visitors from throughout the United States and worldwide.
Visiting our beautiful campus, also known as Kendall Green, is the best way to learn about our exceptional academic programs and to see how we blend history and innovation.

I’m from Texas - a small town that no one has heard of, and I grew up with a hearing family.Â
Now, I’m here at ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú. I’ve met people from all over the world, Â
all from different backgrounds.Â
Now, all of us are together in one community of learning!Â
Sometimes you may think you know everything, but no! ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú has more to teach you.Â
The world out there is big, but ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú is bigger!Â
Opportunities aren’t limited to just the classroom - there’s so much more outside of the classroom.Â
I know I can’t get this experience anywhere else. Only at ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú.Â
Why did I come here? For a real college experience that will prepare me for life beyond college.Â
For example, I can lead in student organizations…Â
become a captain and play NCAA level sports…Â
join the debate team and college bowl team.Â
Also, there’s a big audience of students, faculty, and staff…Â
Where you can pitch your business idea at Bison TankÂ
Work with over 100 departments with deaf leaders and become one…Â
Is that all we have? No! We have a lot of students from all over, Â
where you can make friends and connect - even at 2 in the morning!Â
Here at ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú, we belong. Â
Connecting with empathy means that we can influence…Â
Fully understand and learn from each other to grow.Â
Through this, we learn to problem solve, Â
but that only comes with the full academic experience at ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú.Â
No matter where you are now, no matter your identity - signing, Â
mainstreamed, deaf school - you will learn your way. I know I have!
